CHRISTINA DOMNICK
a native of Hamburg, studied Orchestral Conducting from 1994 to 1999 at the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
Her first professional engagement was as a répétiteur with Theater Bremen (1999-2004), where she also conducted many performances.
From 2005 till 2008, Christina was engaged as a répétiteur with the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, where she was the musical assistant for many productions, notably as principal assistant for “Der Ring des Nibelungen” by Richard Wagner.
In 2008, Christina was appointed Head of Music Staff at the Komische Oper Berlin where she stayed until 2016.
At the Bregenz Festival 2012 she was engaged as a répétiteur for the world premiere of Detlef Glanerts opera “Solaris”.
In 2007/08, she taught repertoire for singing students at the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” Weimar.
Since 2010, she has been a regular member of the jury at the International Singing Competition DEBUT in Weikersheim. In 2022 she has also been part of the jury for Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin - and is going to be in 2024 as well.
In addition to many long-standing engagements at various theatres throughout Germany, Christina has also developed an excellent reputation as a singing and language coach. She is now in demand internationally, especially in the field of German repertoire, and works with both young and experienced singers on vocal technique and pronunciation as well as role and audition preparation.
In this role, she co-founded the ISAR (International Summer Academy on the Rhine) in Rheinau (Baden-Württemberg) under the direction of Jean-Noël Briend in 2016, where she has continued to work with young singing students every summer since.
In July 2024 she worked as a guest coach for the Lyric Opera Studio in Weimar.
As of February 2020 she also works regularly as a vocal coach for the Masters students of the Dutch National Opera Academy at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
From 2017 to 2022, Christina Domnick held the post of Musikalische Assistentin des Generalmusikdirektors at the Hessische Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where she also conducted various performances including the entire run of "Madama Butterfly" for the 18/19 season and the revival of Humperdinck's "Hänsel und Gretel" in 19/20.
In addition to her work as a vocal coach, she also works as a coach for conductors. In 2021 and 2023, Christina was a jury member for the "Forum Dirigieren" by Deutscher Musikrat, a program that provides feedback and mentorship for young conductors. She will also be a jury member for the upcoming edition in 2025.
Christina is also an established recital artist accompanying singers in lieder and opera.
In November 2021 the CD "Whither must I wander" with English Songs by Vaughan WIlliams, Finzi and Korngold sung by the Irish baritone Benjamin Russell accompanied by Christina Domnick was published under the label "Ballhorn Records".
